Park Potomac Luxury Community Breaks Ground for New
Harris Teeter Supermarket

10/21/2008

On Friday, September 19th, the Park Potomac community at Seven Locks and Montrose Road celebrated the official groundbreaking for its new Harris Teeter food market, and the attendance of a large crowd of current homeowners – as well as key elected officials – showed the high level of public interest that has made Park Potomac the best-selling new community in Potomac.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by more than 150, including Montgomery County Executive Isiah “Ike” Leggett and Amy Humphrey, a representative of Congressman Chris Van Hollen. Gigi Godwin, President of the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, was also present, as were representatives from commercial and retail leasing firms, and their potential tenants. Bryant Foulger, a principal with the community’s developer, introduced the attending dignitaries and officially marked the groundbreaking moment for the new 50,000 square foot store and 10,000 square feet of adjacent retail space. The new Harris Teeter will feature an extensive selection of gourmet and prepared foods, as well as traditional market items.

Developed by Foulger-Pratt Development, the fast-growing Park Potomac community will include 450 luxury condominium units, 570,000 square feet of Class “A” office space, 145,000 square feet of lifestyle retail, and a 156-room Kimpton Hotel with a full-service spa, two-level restaurant and bar with indoor and outdoor seating, and 6,000 square feet of meeting space and 3,000 square foot ballroom. Additionally, Park Potomac will include a beautifully designed central plaza with a water feature and outdoor gathering space. The lifestyle retail space will include the Harris Teeter food market, white tablecloth restaurants, quick casual dining, boutique fashion shops and convenience retail.

The broad mix of luxury homes, retail attractions and office space in Park Potomac distinguishes the community from anything else in the metropolitan Washington, DC area, and clearly this upscale enclave is striking a positive chord with luxury-minded homebuyers. For example, during August (which tends to be a slow month in new home sales) the community’s condominiums, Park Potomac Place, had over $6 million worth of new home sales.

Homebuyers interested in learning more about the condominiums, as well as interested retailers or firms seeking trophy office space or retail opportunities, can learn more and initiate contact with sales and leasing representatives at ParkPotomac.com.
